Recession proof your life mom:
Today, I took a walk at lunch time. All I could see was closed stores, one after another. Then I stood around where the old Coach(R) store was, and asked myself: Is it really that bad, or is it just my imagination?
Looking back at history, there has alway been down periods in the economy and up periods. What really makes for this is a community thought pattern. When the news services announce that the economy is bad, people start to think differently about their purchases, they lessen their spending, then stores get less business, then stores close, and so on and so on and so on. You see the picture?
It is what you believe that governs how you react. So, the first step in recession proofing your life is to do EXACTLY the opposite of what the media is telling you about the economy.
Realize that even during bad recessionary times, LOTS of people have made money. The Rockefellers, the Kennedy family, and many others have made BIG money during "bad times," all because they didn't believe it would last. So, the second step is to start believing that, "this too shall pass" and it will!
The third step is to take a chance and start a new business during "bad times." If you can make it in this economy, your business will thrive. Here are some reasons why it's a good time to start a business: 1. Not too many other people are doing it. 2. You will have LOTS of people competing to sell you supplies at low prices. There are lots of close-outs out there. 3. Finding creative sources to make money in a recession will be every inspiring. Pay attention to the fact that the internet has created a global market for your products and services, so get out there and show your stuff to the world.
Fourth, start making a list of ALL the free things you have around you and enjoy them now. They too will pass.
Fifth, paint your life picture not just for today, but for the future. Draw it, paint it, journal it, and so it shall happen!!
